Start Your Solar Ownership With Confidence
Let Vigilant Energy Management get your PV system off to the right start with our solar commissioning service. Vigilant follows the most stringent and comprehensive PV system commissioning program in the industry. To maintain the highest quality readings, all test equipment is calibrated once per year and we are constantly reviewing our commissioning process to ensure that we are in line with the latest solar technology and best practices. Our solar commission service includes the following:
Insulation Resistance Testing
Insulation resistance (aka “Megger”) tests are performed by Vigilant to verify the integrity of the insulation of the conductors in the system. Catching potential ground faults early saves time and money, and reduces the chances of an electrical short or fire.
Visual and Mechanical Inspection
Visual and mechanical inspections include the following, where applicable:
- Completed Vigilant’s 110-point visual inspection checklist
- Review As-built drawings and annotate any changes
- Check critical bolt torque values and mark as necessary
- Take digital pictures of all major components installed
IV-Curve Tracing
IV-curve tracing of the array helps to identify problems that are not detectable from normal ISC/VOC string checks. System problems such as shunt losses, module mismatch, series losses, fill factor, shading and module degradation can be easily detected and recorded providing an accurate picture of system’s health.
Continuity Testing
Continuity testing is performed by Vigilant to ensure that proper grounding is established at the array and entire system including all electrical equipment, modules, sub-arrays, inverters, transformers, and ground rods.
Inverter Commissioning
Vigilant performs inverter commissioning at substantial completion following the manufacturer’s guidelines. This ensures your inverter is ready to operate, and that industry best-practices have been followed during installation. Vigilant will also register your inverter warranty cards with your inverter manufacturer to ensure that your warranty is accepted.
Monitoring Commissioning
Vigilant verifies that data is being collected, sent, received and displayed as expected by your systems digital monitoring system.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging is used to identify manufacturing defects in the modules as well as resistive conductor terminations and overheating power processing components within the inverter. The consequence of not detecting and correcting these defects ranges from missing out on warranty replacements to suffering a costly and dangerous electrical failure.
Vigilant is here to make sure your PV ownership starts with a confident knowledge of your system and reliable production projections. Request a quote from Vigilant today to get more details on commissioning your solar system.
